Walton County Election Information

Information about local Walton county races. Seats open, filing fees, requirements, deadlines, etc. We intended to try to have the information required to file as a candidate for local offices on this web site. However, after talking to the Supervisor of Elections we decided instead to refer you to the county web site, which already has this information. Additionally we recommend that if you do decide to run for any local office, that you go in person and talk to the Supervisor of Elections personally in order that you may get the most current information, and avoid some pitfalls.

2010 Election Cycle:

The filing qualifying period for 2010 state, district, and multi-county candidates is from Noon, June 14, 2010 to 4:40 P.M. June 19, 2010. If you are interested in running in these elections now is the time to start thinking about what you need to do to qualify.

Judicial, State Attorney, and Public Defender qualifying period is from Noon April 26 to Noon April 30, 2010.

If you file as a candidate, a filing fee is required, however a petition may be used instead. That is why it is important to join the party. If we need to complete a petition, that can be accomplished during a meeting held for that purpose. Information on the petition process.

If you are a Libertarian candidate, running as a Libertarian, we will try to help you in any way we can. For more information just click the link for the Walton County Supervisor of elections web site below. It's a great web site, and you will find a lot of useful information.

Candidate Resources

If we intend to try to field candidates for any of these elections we need to start working now. It sounds really complicated, and it is, but we will carve this task up into small jobs, and assign these jobs to several people to accomplish.

The first task of course is to get our local party organized, and start working to recruit new members. Once we get organized we can select our candidates and see what we need to do to get them qualified to run. There is going to be a lot of work to do and we are going to be working under a very tight schedule, so it is going to be an exciting year for all of us.

If you aren't a Libertarian, and you think your vote doesn't matter, think again, it matters to us! Join our party and help us reclaim our government. Help select the people who are running for public offices, perhaps even be a candidate yourself. Just go to the "Become A Member" page and sign up. You can join the Libertarian party no matter where you live. Then join your local group, either this group, or the local LP affiliate in your own county.
