Jeff Miller who presently holds this seat, won it in 2008 with 69% of the vote, Roughly 134,928 votes.

A Libertarian candidate can win the house race in this district. The current Representative for district 1 is Jeff Miller. This seat will be up for election in 2010. The Libertarian party is seeking a candidate for this race. To have some assurance of wining we need to gain 100,000 new members. We can not compete with the other two parties in raising campaign money. If you want to be a candidate bring new party members.

That should be our goal as Libertarians, to increase membership to 100,000 votes in Congressional District 1 so our guy will have a good chance at winning. That comes out to 25% of registered voters. We need to start new affiliates in Escambia, Holmes, and Washington counties.

Membership is the real key. If we can find people who are concerned about their country, and enlist them as members of our party we can count on them to vote on election day. We will not be forced to raise huge amounts of money to convince people to vote for our candidates.
